Benelli M4 or Mossberg 590

Unread post by Cesare »

What would be your choice if the "insurrection" that lefty says will never happen, happens?

This is a 590 SPX. It is a pump shot gun.

This is an M4. It is a semi-auto shotgun.

Think I'd go with the M4. But either would be good.

Neither. I need a weapon for that I'll use a AR-15 of some type. Either one of those only has a 8 round limit and slower reload time vs. a AR or other semi auto rifle type.

Next reason is range. For all intents and proposes a shotgun is a close range weapon. In a "insurrection" distance can be a friend. You always assume your enemy has greater firepower than your own so when planning a ambush you might want enough distance between your forces and the enemy were a shotgun will be ineffective IMO.

That's why must LEO's have a "patrol rifle" in their squad cars these days over a shotgun, they can engage a target at longer range as needed.

The 1 advantage a shotgun of that type holds IMO is room clearing in house to house fighting. That type of "insurrection" fighting is a sure way of getting yourself killed. You want to clear a room in a insurrection, you use a grenade and move on.

Neither. I already have 18" barreled REM 870 and REM 1100 set up for close combat/3-gun competition that I'm already familiar with.

But I don't really plan on doing anything at short range. I'll stick to my two (registered) AR type SBRs, one in .556 and one in 300BLK, or one of my custom long-range ARs. I'm too old to be runnin' and gunnin' in close combat. I'll stay back a couple of hundred meters, thank you.

The Sommelier would agree with this choice. The Benelli M4, an Italian classic.

Listened to them Tuesday, in celebration of the Battle of Vienna.

"We remember
In September
That's the night Vienna was freed
We made the enemy bleed!"
