Guinea Pig tastes like....

Unread post by Vercingetorix »

Well, sort of depends.

It tastes like rabbit, which itself tastes somewhat like chicken. Guinea Pig meat is slightly more fatty, making it a bit more like duck or dark-meat turkey.

It is usually found in the mountains, but some people keep them in the city like Americans might keep Chickens.

There isn't much to them; they tend to be either deep-fat fried or cooked on a rotisserie. Depending on the place where you get them, they will ask if you want to kill them yourself.

Never offered any rodent besides rabbit in my travels. Have you tried it?

But if you ever eaten at White Castle who knows if you have had rodents.

Yes, I have eaten Cuy. Perhaps the worst thing about it is presentation. It is fried and put on a plate belly up. When it has been offered, I ask for mine to be cut up and decapitated.

I've eaten Cuy as well. My first cruise in the Navy was the UNITAS, completely around South America. And of course, Peru was on the trip and Cuy is the thing there.

I thought it was pretty good. It was roasted with herbs and spices and not bad at all. I mean, not good enough to head to the pet store and buy my own for consumption here but, at the time, in Peru, when-in-Rome-kinda-thing-tasty.

I'll try most anything food related and have sampled everything, everywhere I've been.

I did NOT partake but there are places in Peru that eat Cat. Like housecats. I have seen it...but dogs and cats are a bridge too far for me

Just for the heck of it, a rabbit is technically not a rodent.
