The title is a bit misleading. Watch the video and see what Bible scholarship looks like.

Re: Your Bible is CORRUPTED
On 11-11-2023 I watched a zoom seminar on this topic by Mr. Ehrman. No, he did not bash religion. He did point out the differences between the original Greek version of the Bible and the later Latin (Roman) Bible.
There are the differences in copies of copies of copies over the centuries. Comparing them to the curated copies of original texts to translations.
How scribes under the direction of the Holy Roman Church modified parts of the original Bible. For example, where a version of one Apostle's account used a version of another Apostle's in the telling what they had observed and recounted in their text.
He points out the different versions in the telling of the Crucifixion between the Apostles accounts.
The difference from the formation of the Christian Trinity as to the Godhood of the Christ. He notes there are more than a few contested interpretations between Biblical scholars and the sects of Christian denominations.
There was a lot covered as it was a daylong seminar with breaks between sections. I thought it was well done.

There are books that describe the formation of the early gospels. How they were done and the language variations.
The translations REALLY change when it goes from the Latin Vulgate to the King James Bible.
This is because the King James version was written to be more poetic rather than documentarian.
As far as the gospels. Mark and Luke do not differ....they are almost the same. It makes sense Matthew, and Luke used Mark as a reference for their own gospel.
John however is the one that differs because it discusses more of Jesus ministry rather than his life...

Vercingetorix,
I guess I'm surprised that anyone is surprised.
Centuries of history not written down at the time. Nobody had a SmartPhone to record Jesus on the cross.
The development of "Biblical inerrancy" only confirms that God had a sense of humor.

Baron
